The Real Estate Institute is approved to provide
continuing education online for Maryland and Virginia.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION & PROCEDURES
- Courses are independent study—work at your own pace.
- All courses must be completed within 1 year of purchase.
- You must pass the Maryland courses final exam with a score of 70% or better,
Virginia courses final exam with a score of 75% or better.
- Certificates are mailed to you within 10 business days once you pass the final exam.
- Refunds are only accepted within 5 days of purchase of the class if the course was not started, and there is a $15 administrative fee.

- FOR MARYLAND: Upon completion of a Maryland online course, you must sign, date and return to us a notarized copy of the STUDENT AFFIDAVIT before your credit can be issued. Certificates are issued only after provider has verified exam score and student has submitted required affidavit.
- FOR VIRGINIA: Upon completion of a Virginia online course, you must sign, date and return to us a notarized copy of the STUDENT AFFIDAVIT before your credit can be issued.

- Our ONLINE courses are not approved for DC credit.
Note: The state approval process is time consuming and expensive. There is a $20 per course per state processing fee when certificates and processing for more than one state are requested. Fill out the Maryland and/or Virginia Processing Form.
Options for the three required courses for Maryland:
- Legislative requirement: you can choose either Environmental Issues, Buyer Representation, or Legislative Update.
- Fair Housing requirement: you can choose either Fair Housing or Diversity & Doing Business.
- Maryland Code of Ethics: is currently available as an online course.
